A Little Bit About A Lot

I know it has been awhile since our last blog entry and I know that I told you I would do better but HONESTLY we have not had internet. Also we have been on the go, seemingly non-stop, for the last 2 weeks. We have made plans and changed plans both at the drop of a hat as well as any change in the weather. So again I apologize for the delay but now we have a witness, that we are not just lounging away the days. Since it has been a whirlwind of activity aboard Sandy Dreams I am giving you a glance of the things that we have done and seen. You won’t believe how far we have come! Thankfully we have about two weeks of R&R before our next deadlines though.

Let’s see where were we last time I wrote? Oh yeah! St. Kitts. Ryan & I were scrubbing the decks and Marilyn & Amy were making connections for SPIN.

Both endeavors turned out well and SPIN may have a very healthy starting point.

After the work we made a little time for play and rented a car to explore the island further, since Ryan & I had hardly left the boat since arriving and Marilyn & Amy wanted to show us the sights they had seen during their tours.

We ended up at the Brimstone Fort. A first for all of us and definitely the best fort that I have had the pleasure of exploring. The restoration was incredible as well as the size and the view. I couldn’t get enough pictures. Every way I turned there was the ‘perfect shot’. Since I went hog wild with the camera I will just include a few of my favorite shots in the blog. If you want to see more perhaps I can find enough internet to post some on FB.

St. Kitts and Nevis have wild monkeys. They actually outnumber the people on the islands. The French brought them over as pets and I guess they got loose and found paradise. They have ‘re-tamed’ some of them for the tourists.

But the island still has like 50,000 wild ones.IMG_0155IMG_0166IMG_0171IMG_0173IMG_0176IMG_0182

And lots of beautiful hiking.

After St. Kitts and Nevis we went to Montserrat.

Montserrat has an active volcano on the island and it has closed off 2/3 of the island just incase it REALLY erupts.

You can read more about the volcano on their webpage: http://www.mvo.ms/ It is really interesting.

After Montserrat we went to Guadeloupe.

Deshaie was a cute little town but we didn’t get to explore much because of the weather. Trying to stay ahead of the weather and on schedule we decided to make a run down to the Saintes.

So in trying to beat more bad weather and in an effort to get to Dominica before Amy’s plane left we only stayed 1 day.  Then left for Dominica.

And that is where we still are. Amy made her flight and flew out on the 4th. We had planned to leave yesterday but a quick squall was coming through and we decided to wait it out.  We will be leaving tomorrow or maybe the next day for St. Lucia where we have more company coming. We are excited to see everyone and hope to meet up with some of our other boater friends. Until then.

Sandy Dreams over and out.
