Bequia, easily in the top 10 of our favorite islands. What turned out to be an over night stop just so that we didn’t miss the island as we passed by turned into a full two week stay. It is a beautiful little island with a down home feel, the people are some of the nicest around, and it has the beautiful aqua water that reminds me of the Bahamas. Bequia’s only bad trait…food is high. Even in the grocery store prices are a little steeper than up island. Not Bahamas high but high.
It reminds us a lot of Jost Van Dyke in the BVI’s.
The Friendship Rose (above) was the ferry from Bequia to St. Vincent until recent years. Now she is a charter boat for exploring Bequia.
Sandy Dreams at anchor in the harbor.
We were lucky enough to met Elfic “The Singing Chef” and his family at The Sailors Café. Great food, great company, internet, and some of the cheaper food on the island. What more can we ask for? It is a hidden little place on the other side of the bay from most of the other places. We really enjoyed it and wish that we had discovered it on our first night in town.
And then a couple days in we had a knock on the hull. JuCa had arrived. So we caught up on the news with them.
