Well it was bound to happen....

Well it was bound to happen.......summer has finally arrived!

And in direct proportion with the increasingly perfect weather my work habits have gone down the drain. Instead of toiling away and dutifully peeling wallpaper, I have snuck off to the pool. Inspite of several unpainted walls, I have read a good book. No more sanding for me - I went down the dock and visited with the neighbors.

We all knew that this was going to happen sooner or later.......so now instead of updating you on the boat, I'm off for a walk with Sissy (and postponing yet more tasks - until I get around to them.....or until Ryan gets here {shh}!)

Look what I can do!

I was on the boat for two weeks and unfortunately since the weather was cold and rainy, the whole time, I got a lot done. Here is a little of what I did...

I got the ceiling painted in the galley, salon, laundry room, our head, and our bedroom. I also sanded and varnished some of the interior woodwork. It is beautiful.

Sorted thru some of the junk in the engine room.

The galley has been painted and knobs on the cabinets.

New cushions and sides on the cockpit. They are finishing the window for the back.

The salon how it looked before...
....and AFTER!

Painted the walls in our bedroom and having the beds redone.

Peeled the old wall paper in our head and painted.

Well that's it for now.

Update

We have been working on the boat.
Unfortunately, a lot of it has been unfun things that don't make for great "Hey look what we did!" pictures. (Unless you want to see that the insides of the cabinets and underneath the floorboards have been painted or that I found a home for the mac&cheese.)
Ryan has done a lot he took out all the old instruments and fiberglassed in the old holes and now we are ready to paint, and then install all the new gauges and gadgets which is actually really exciting and a ton of work but I will post pictures when it is finished so that it has the whole WOW! effect, don't want to ruin the big ending.
And while he was working really hard I got a logo designed for the name on the back, but again waiting for the full effect.
So anyway...I better get to back to work, will post more as it comes together.

Busy Busy

We have been working hard on the boat. Lots of cleaning, painting, polishing, and organizing going on. Have been here two weeks now and there is still a TON of stuff to do and get done. However today is a lazy not gonna do much but play on the computer kinda day. So I thought that I would update the news.

We had our first guests on New Years weekend. Tyson, Connie, and the boys drove down. We had a good time and took the boat out sailing while they were here. I even drove the boat for a little while. I know scary huh. Ethan said that I was "The Best Captain ever" I think that was because while I was steering he was below deck sliding from side to side on the floor. He had a blast, everyone else was hanging on, LOL. Connie got some really good pictures of the boat. Last week Marilyn was here and we went shopping and got a lot of stuff for the boat and made lots of decisions. She bought a new grill and chairs for the deck, and I had the hammock Ryan got me in Mexico, so the deck is now the best place to hang out on the boat. Then on Sunday after we had taken Marilyn to the airport Happy and Eric came by for a little while. It is fun to watch Ryan brag and show off the boat to people. He really loves it. (So do I)

Ryan has had the last week off and may possibly get all this week off too. So it has been nice having him here with me. It is also nice because he has got a lot done that I would not have been able to do alone. He got the trash compactor out -it was broken; as well as the washer and dryer which worked great if you only wanted to wash 1 shirt at a time. (We gave the washer and dryer to the neighbors at the end of the dock. She seemed really excited to get them.) When Tyson was here we got the lathe out of the engine room. And Ryan and I have hauled 2 suitcases of papers and blueprints for the boat back to OKC. We have raised the waterline several inches with everything that we have taken out. The boat should go much faster now without all the added weight.

Sis is enjoying the boat. She spends her day watching people walking on the dock, watching the ducks and pelicans swimming, and taking naps in the sun on the deck. She rarely gets off the boat without permission and likes being with Ryan all day.

I found some old pictures in one of the drawers on the boat. They were a nice surprise and show the boat with all the sails up. They also have Sandy and Margaret in them (The builder and first owners.) I think that I am going to frame one and keep it in the boat.

I will post more later as I have time.

Finally!!!!

After 5 months and 5 days of paperwork, stalling, surveyors, and hurricanes (not to mention the 2 years of finding "The One" in the first place)...

WE HAVE A BOAT!!!!

It still hasn't entirely sunk in and I am WAY excited. I might bust when it actually hits me.

Ryan keeps asking..."Does it seem real yet?! What about now?" He is way way WAY excited.

I will be moving to Houston shortly after Christmas to begin cleaning, painting, and getting the boat just the way we want it. Ryan will stay in OKC working so that I can have money to get the boat the way I want it :) and will come visit/work on the weekends.

I'll post pics as I get things done!
